Rep. Joe Sosnowski welcomed K-6th grade students who participated in his “Be A Monster Reader” summer reading program to a pool party at Peak Sports Club in Loves Park on Thursday.
Rep. Sosnowski’s annual summer reading club is offered to encourage students to start or maintain positive reading habits. Participating students were required to read a minimum of ten books. To celebrate Illinois’ recent bicentennial, Rep. Sosnowski encouraged students to read at least one book about Illinois or any of the notable men and women who are Illinois natives that went on to make major contributions to U.S. history in civic leadership, science and technology, the arts and humanities, education, athletics, the Armed Forces or any other category.
Over 65 local students completed Rep. Sosnowski’s summer reading challenge this year. Several dozen of them and their families attended the recognition party in Loves Park. Each summer reader was presented with an official certificate from the Illinois House of Representatives recognizing their commitment to reading.
