Self-Defense class for women and girls offered in Belvidere January 9: RSVP today

State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, is sponsoring a free class for women and girls high school age and older on “Self-Defense, Distraction and Awareness Tactics” in association with the Belvidere Park District and presented by the Belvidere Police Department. The class will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9 at the Rivers Edge Recreation Center, located at 1151 W. Locust Street in Belvidere.

Participants will be instructed on what to hit, how to release holds, and ways to be aware and avoid dangerous situations.

“This free class is a terrific opportunity for women and girls to learn simple and effective ways to stay safe,” Representative Sosnowski said. “No matter your age or where you live, everyone is a potential victim. I would like to thank the Belvidere Police Department and Belvidere Park District for partnering with me to offer this class for women and girls in our community.”

Space is limited. Those interested in signing up for the class must reserve their spot by registering online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-self-defense-class-tickets-86824399115?aff=affiliate1.
