Donors encouraged to sign-up for blood drive on March 11

State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, and the Rock River Valley Blood Center are hosting a blood drive from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at Rockford Christian Schools, located at 1401 N. Bell School Road in Rockford.

Local residents interested in donating blood are encouraged to sign-up for an appointment online by visiting https://donor.rrvbc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/45304. Appointments are available in ten minute increments throughout the duration of the blood drive and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Donating blood saves lives,” Representative Sosnowski said. “I am pleased to be partnering with the Rock River Valley Blood Center to offer this blood drive to the community.”

The Rock River Valley Blood Center supplies the total blood needs for eight area hospitals including the Beloit Health System, Edgerton Hospital and Health Services, FHN, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rochelle Community Hospital, Mercyhealth Hospital – Rockton Avenue, SwedishAmerican Hospital, and SwedishAmerican Medical Center – Belvidere.

A not-for-profit organization, the Rock River Valley Blood Center relies on donors from six counties of the Rock River Valley, including Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Ogle, and Stephenson counties in Illinois and Rock County in Wisconsin to meet the needs of these eight hospitals.
