Rep. Sosnowski to Host Blood Drive with the Belvidere Chamber & Rock River Valley Blood Center

Belvidere— State Representative Joe Sosnowski will be hosting a blood drive in partnership with the Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rock River Valley Blood Center this week. The blood drive will take place from now until Friday, July 3, at the Belvidere Donor Center located at 1740 South State Street.

“I am excited to co-host this blood drive to help increase the supply of blood in the Rock River Valley. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the entire country is currently experiencing a severe blood shortage,” said Rep. Sosnowski. “Your donations at this blood drive can help improve the supply and save a life.”

Rep. Sosnowski has been promoting blood donations for the entire month of June, because Illinois is experiencing a severe blood shortage and this pandemic is exacerbating the situation. The pandemic is hurting the supply of already rare blood types, which are in the most need. The recent spike in ‘elective procedures’ has also increased the need for blood.

Donors will be screened for good health upon arrival and are asked to not enter the building if they are sick. Masks are optional based on each donor’s individual comfort level, but are not required by Rock River Valley Blood Center.

Available appointment times vary by day. To make an appointment to give blood, please visit: https://donor.rrvbc.org/donor/schedules/center/2 or call (779) 210-8381.
