State Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockord) and State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) hosted Gold Star mother Wendy Borowski of Roscoe to present her with a plaque in memory of her son, the late U.S. Army Specialist Brandon Rowe, who was killed in action in Iraq on March 31, 2003. Local veterans advocate Fred Wescott handmade the plaque for Mrs. Borowski and her family.
The Roscoe VFW Post #2955 is hosting a ceremony this coming Saturday to celebrate the dedication of the Brandon Rowe Memorial Highway. The stretch of Illinois Route 251 from Bridge Street in Roscoe to Rockton Road in Roscoe has been designated as the Specialist Brandon Jacob Rowe Memorial Highway. Signage has already been erected.
