State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, has been named a 2021-22 Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, an award given to legislators who have made special contributions to the defense of free enterprise and the furtherance of economic opportunities for Illinoisans.

“The men and women of our small business community throughout the Rockford region are the leaders of Illinois’ next economic comeback,” Representative Sosnowski said. “They are truly the catalysts of growth, innovation and job creation all across Illinois. I am proud to stand with the small and family-owned businesses who are part of the Illinois Chamber as we work toward giving them a state government that gets out of their way and better serves their needs. We still have a long way to go to make Illinois a booming, job-friendly state once again, but I remain confident in our future because of the strong backbone represented by our local small business community.”

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce rated all 177 members of the 102nd General Assembly based on legislators’ votes on key business legislation. The Champion of Free Enterprise Awards are given biennially to members with Illinois Chamber ratings averaging 85 percent or higher over the previous two General Assemblies who have demonstrated their commitment to legislation that frees the entrepreneurial spirit. Representative Sosnowski received a rating of 100% for the 102nd General Assembly (2021-22).

Sosnowski serves the 69th District, which includes portions of Winnebago and Boone Counties.
