Rep. Sosnowski statement on Gov. Pritzker’s haphazard mask rules

State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, released the following statement today in response to Governor Pritzker’s expected announcement on the status of statewide mask mandates:

“It is reported that once again Governor Pritzker is leading with no scientific logic other than from the “medical professionals” in the Chicago Teachers Union.  As most other states have already ended (some for more than a year) or recently announced an end to their mandates. There is no science to support the arbitrary date of March 1 for lifting some mask mandates while keeping others. It is ridiculous to keep school mask mandates in place when children are essentially at zero risk. All mandates should be ended immediately.

“The Governor’s policies have done little if anything to prevent sickness or death in Illinois.  We are the 6th largest state in the nation, and we have the 6th highest number of reported deaths due to the virus.  This is the same administration that deemed big stores like Walmart were safe to shop in but small stores needed to close.  This is the same leadership that also declared in 2020 that more than two people in a boat outside was dangerous.  The nonsense needs to stop.”

Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago and Boone Counties.
