State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) issued the following statement in response to the Chicago Bears announcement regarding plans to advance their stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana:
“The failure of Governor Pritzker and Illinois Democratic leadership in Springfield over the last seven and a half years to make Illinois an affordable place to do business has Illinois ranked dead last in job growth among the 20 most populous states, and 44th overall, with major employers from Caterpillar to Boeing to Morton Salt all packing up and moving. An economy based on crushingly high taxes is driving families, job creators, and now seemingly a major sports franchise – the Chicago Bears – to choose relocating to other states that offer lower taxes and a more competitive environment for businesses to grow. Bears fans throughout Illinois should be disgusted with the Governor, the Mayor of Chicago, and Illinois legislative leaders for allowing Indiana to make a serious play for the Bears new stadium.”
Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
