ROCKFORD– State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, has published a new online resource for parents, donors and organizations interested in Illinois’ new School Scholarship Tax Credit by providing information about the process and rules concerning the Invest in Kids Act on his official state website, www.joesosnowski.org. Constituents can access the information by clicking on the “Invest in Kids” icon on the homepage.
“I encourage everyone in our community interested in this program to check my website regularly for information, updates and resources about how to maximize our ability to get the most out of this opportunity and truly invest in kids,” Representative Sosnowski said. “My office is working with the Illinois Department of Revenue to keep local stakeholders and interested donors informed about how this new scholarship tax credit will open doors for students from all walks of life to access excellent schools and allow parents to choose which type of education best fits their family.”
Illinois enacted the Invest In Kids Scholarship Tax Credit Program in 2017. This program offers a 75 percent income tax credit to individuals and businesses that contribute to qualified Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). The SGOs then provide scholarships for students whose families meet the income requirements to attend qualified, non-public schools in Illinois.
Representative Sosnowski has been working with Empower Illinois, an SGO, to provide information and resources to anyone interested in the Tax Credit Scholarships. Constituents are welcome to visit the Empower Illinois webpage at https://empowerillinois.org for more information.
Please call Representative Sosnowski’s District Office at (815) 547-3436 with any questions or requests for additional information.
