Rep. Joe Sosnowski attended the groundbreaking ceremony today at Rockford International Airport for the new 120,000 square foot expansion of the Airport’s International Cargo Facility. Nearly 1.4 billion pounds of cargo traveled through the Airport in 2017, a 50 percent increase over the prior year. Local and federal officials participating in the ceremony included Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. During the event, the Airport also celebrated the start of construction on a new $3.5 million ramp for cargo aircraft parking.
