Rep. Sosnowski statement on lame duck session votes

“While most Illinoisans slept last night, Democrats passed several controversial bills, abusing their supermajority status at the expense of Illinois families. Democrats passed a bill that furthers their extreme abortion agenda in Illinois to remove parents’ rights and have on-demand abortion at any time for any reason paid by taxpayers (SB 1534). They also passed an unconstitutional gun ban that prevents law-abiding citizens from accessing commonly used firearms and requires registration by those who already legally obtained a “banned” gun (SB 2226).  The gun ban does nothing to address violence in our inner cities. I voted NO on both bills because they are bad policy. This is yet another example of the kind of government Illinois suffers from under one-party rule.”
