Rep. Joe Sosnowski named Champion of Free Enterprise by Illinois Chamber of Commerce

State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) has been named a 2023-24 Champion of Free Enterprise by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, an award given to legislators who have made special contributions to the defense of free enterprise and the furtherance of economic opportunities for Illinoisans.

“Illinois’ path toward regaining our status as the Midwest’s leading state for job growth and opportunity runs through our incredible small business community,” Representative Sosnowski said. “They are truly the catalysts of growth and innovation all across Illinois. I am proud to stand with the small and family-owned businesses who are part of the Illinois Chamber as we work toward giving them a state government that gets out of their way and better serves their needs. Illinois has more hurdles to overcome on that front before we’re a robust, high job-producing state once again, but I remain confident in our future because of the strong backbone represented by our local small business community.”

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce rated all 177 members of the General Assembly based on legislators’ votes on key business legislation. The Champion of Free Enterprise Awards are given biennially to members with Illinois Chamber ratings averaging 85 percent or higher over the previous two General Assemblies who have demonstrated their commitment to legislation that frees the entrepreneurial spirit. Representative Sosnowski earned a rating of 95% during the four-year period (2021-24).

Sosnowski serves the 69th District, which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
