State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) issued the following statement while the House Education Policy Committee continues its hearing this morning on the Homeschool Act, House Bill 2827:
“Homeschool students outperform public school students in standardized testing, yet as we speak Illinois Democrats are advancing a bill in committee in an attempt to regulate homeschooling to such an extreme degree that would put families at risk of fines and even imprisonment. Just because public education is controlled by government does not make it better. Protect homeschool freedom!”
UPDATE: House Bill 2827 passed committee by a vote of 8-4 with one member voting “Present”.
Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
