Rep. Sosnowski statement on Governor Pritzker’s misplaced priorities on public safety; partisan attacks

State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, issued the following statement on recent public comments made by Governor JB Pritzker:

“The Governor is failing his responsibility to protect Illinois residents by doubling down on his vow to prevent state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal law enforcement agencies working to remove criminal illegal aliens from our communities, including murderers, rapists, and public safety threats.  The Governor should be focused on addressing Illinois’ $3.2 Billion budget deficit that his policies are substantially responsible for creating, rooting out corruption in state government as we approach jury deliberations in the trial of former Speaker Michael Madigan, and meeting the need for property tax relief for Illinois families.

Instead, the Governor has chosen in his recent interviews to criticize federal law enforcement officers for their efforts to remove non-citizens with a criminal history from our streets, pledging to “stand in their way.”

Moreover, the Governor is peddling uneducated and debunked claims about Elon Musk making a Nazi salute at President Trump’s Inauguration Day rally, a shamelessly partisan falsehood that aims to divide Americans when we should be focused on reducing our high cost of living and our high property taxes, and making our neighborhoods safer.”

Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
