Rep. Sosnowski statement on sentencing of former House Speaker Michael Madigan

State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) issued the following statement in response to the sentencing of former House Speaker Michael Madigan in federal court Friday on 10 felony convictions including bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud:

“No one is above the law. Speaker Madigan was found guilty of gaming the system for personal gain. The people of Illinois expect more from their leaders and deserve an ethical state government. We need to stop the culture of pay-to-play politics that has allowed corruption to run rampant in Illinois for decades”.

Madigan was sentenced to 90 months in prison and a $2.5 million fine.

Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
