Free Admission, Field Games and Prize Drawings; fun for kids of all ages
Local families are invited to attend a FREE Halloween-themed Kids’ Bike-A-Thon on the grounds of Midway Village Museum at 6799 Guilford Road from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25.
I am sponsoring the event to promote healthy outdoor recreational activities for local youth in a setting where social distancing can be practiced, amidst ongoing concerns related to COVID-19 in the Stateline area.
Families can have fun outside this summer while staying safe. Our Kids’ Bike-A-Thon is a great way to enjoy activities at Midway Village and show off your bike. As part of our Halloween in July theme, kids are encouraged to decorate their bike and wear a costume. We’re also making this an opportunity to support two outstanding local nonprofits serving our community; the Rockford Rescue Mission and the Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford.
At the Bike-A-Thon, kids can challenge themselves to see how many times they can ride around the course on their bike. Costumes are optional, with prizes to be awarded for best costume and best bike decorating based on age groups. Field games like bags, hula-hooping, and potato sack races will also be available for kids of all ages to enjoy along with on-site trick-or-treating. Complimentary State of Illinois bike trail maps and brochures on state programs will also be available.
Guests are encouraged to bring canned food items to benefit the Rockford Rescue Mission and/or baby items to benefit the Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. Baby items must be new and in their original packaging, please. Families who donate items will be entered into a drawing to win a new kids’ bicycle or gift basket. Additional raffle tickets to increase your chances of winning one of the prize drawings can be obtained by making a cash donation to benefit either the Rockford Rescue Mission or Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford.
