Support Property Tax Relief Petition

High property taxes are a burden on working families and seniors in Illinois. They go up a lot every year, with no relief in sight, putting a squeeze on household budgets. Many times the increase is due to increasing home values.

You should not pay more taxes because your home increases in value!

House Bill 4626, proposed by Rep. Joe Sosnowski, would change state law to base property taxes on the equalized assessed value (EAV) of a home the year it is purchased. This means your most important investment could grow in value without being taxed for as long as a person owns their home.

Passing this bill would make housing more affordable for first-time homebuyers, working families, and seniors on fixed incomes alike. We need this reform and we need it now.
